Steve Maue

Steve played in my band from 1987-1990. Together we traveled the countryside from his hometown in Southern Illinois to Chicago and around the countryside. We recorded at least 2 LP's together, one of which became Grammy nominated. One of my best memories of Steve is the vocal rendition he added to "Oh Baby Mine" a song that because of his rich, bass, dynamic voice, went on to be voted as the "Favorite Song" of the year. Steve was an accomplished musician on 6-string, bass guitar, upright bass and equally talented with his vocal abilities. He was also a proficient tuba player. Together we enjoyed playing for wedding ceremonies with our brass quintet. Steve was the kind of musician that excelled in everything he played and sang and largely contributed to each band he played in. His memory will always live on in the music he performed and recorded. Taken away from us much too early, may Steve rest in peace and harmony. May God bless his family. May we all enjoy the goodness he created in his music and in the memory he has left behind. We all miss you Steve.
